Since 2005, the European Geosciences Union (EGU) has held their annual General Assembly at the Austria Center Vienna (ACV). Once again, members of the CRC 806 attended at this year’s General Assembly (7th - 12th April).
As part of session SSP1.3 “Integrating stratigraphy, sedimentology, palaeontology and paleoclimate in human evolution and dispersal studies - from early hominins to the Holocene”, Elena Hensel presented preliminary results of the geoarchaeological research at the Sodicho Rockshelter in southwestern Ethiopia. The poster illustrated micromorphological observations, sedimentological and geochemical data of the sediment stratigraphy in an attempt to reconstruct site formation processes and paleoenvironmental changes during the Late Pleistocene.
It was a successful week with excellent talks, inspiring discussions and possibilities for future research in the project.
