The 10th science night in Bonn attracted people of all ages with this year’s motto “WaterWorlds”. About 18,000 visitors came to see various presentations and events until midnight. One highlight was certainly the geo show: Scientists – also from CRC 806 – explained how rocks and sediments enable them to look into the past. The audience enjoyed a live connection to one of the largest drilling core repositories worldwide, an interactive quiz, and a cake shaped as a drilling core.
In addition, members from project B3 presented their research on “Lake Sediments as Climate Archives” to the public. We explained what lake sediments and its components tell about the climate and environment in the past. The visitors experienced science while microscoping, exploring sediment cores, and looking at videos and posters.
