In the beginning of July PhD candidate Franz Hartung (F2 project) visited the 18th international conference on Solid State Dosimetry (SSD18; see www.ssd18.org) in Munich. At this conference international researches presented their work on the impact of ionising radiation on the luminescence properties of materials, on the material properties itself and the application of these materials in personal dosimetry, dating, dose reconstruction and analytical treatment. Franz Hartung presented his work in a poster with the title “In situ dosimetry for trapped charge dating methods using BeO OSL dosimeters”. In many fruitful discussions he had a good exchange with other researchers and got new insights and ideas.
Beyond the scientific programme, the conference participants gained some impressions of Munich through cultural events in the evenings and during the conference tour to the Olympic park of Munich.
