In March 2012, we returned to Ethiopia with the aim of surveying for archaeological artefacts close to our lakes, to sample rock material east of Chew Bahir, and finally to core one of the Dendi lakes.
Archaeological surveys proved successful, with some several archaeological sites identified in the neighbourhood of Chew Bahir. These sites will be investigated in more detail by our archaeological team in the near future.

At Dendi crater lakes we launched our platform and drilled two sediment cores (11 and 8 m sediment depth) in the eastern lake at about 50 m water depth. Moreover, our archaeological team was successful and found several artefacts in shelters of the crater walls and on the fields of the crater bottom.
