Late Quaternary High-Resolution Climate Archives in the Sahara

Exhibition “Tibesti - Expedition in the Sahara” at the Kanzlergalerie

After the well-attended exhibitions on project A2’s geoarchaeological research and related World Heritage endeavours in Northern Chad which were shown in N’Djaména at the Chadian National Museum, the French Cultural Institute and at all three universities, and a video presentation at the international Unesco World Heritage Committee session in Bonn 28/06 – 8/07/2015, a photographic documentation entitled “Tibesti – Expedition in the Sahara” is now on display in Cologne. Geographer and archaeologist Adam Polczyk, today multimedia editor at the Department 8 of the University of Cologne, has accompanied the A2 expedition to the Sahara’s major mountains in February and March 2015 photographing and filming the field work and the pristine volcanic landscape of one of the least explored regions in the world. The exhibition with 21 impressive photographs has been opened by Chancellor Dr. Michael Stückradt on 21/01/2016 and can be visited in the Chancellor's corridor on the first floor of the main building (Albertus-Magnus-Platz) Mon – Fri 8:00–16:30 hours until 31 March 2016.
